History...

The Idiot at the Wall was the first play I wrote - or at least the first one I finished and thought decent enough to show to people :-) In early 2012 I asked my good friend and colleague Angela Milton - a fellow graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts - if she'd like to stage it with me. We gathered together a brilliant team and we all worked with tons of passion and no money to get it on. I will be forever grateful for that opportunity to develop my work with such a wonderful group. We were skillfully led by our director, Emily Reutlinger, with whom I would go on to collaborate again. Four months after we had all first met, the play had its first production at The Pleasance, Edinburgh in June 2012. Bolstered by a good run, we then took it to the Bedlam Theatre at The Fringe, where we played to packed houses for 3 weeks. From there, it was clear the show should be taken around the country, and in January 2013 I was massively fortunate to meet and begin working with producer Aiyana D'Arcangelo - absolutely one of the most exciting and dynamic producers working today. Over the next few months we mounted a 3-week Scottish tour, and were thrilled to receive funding from Creative Scotland to get out on the road in September 2013. It was a demanding yet magical tour - especially taking the show to small islands like Berneray and Canna. Memories to treasure!
